Brett J. L. Landry, Ph.D., who has served as the dean of the Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business at the 爱豆传媒 for seven years, will return to his full-time faculty position at the end of the 2021-22 academic year.
鈥淚 am excited to return to teaching and further my expertise in cybersecurity practice and research,鈥� said Landry, who prior to becoming dean in 2015 taught cybersecurity at the university for nine years. 鈥淭he 爱豆传媒 has the benefit of strong, stable administrative leadership with President Jonathan Sanford and Interim Provost Tammy Leonard at the helm, and I feel as if it is the right time in my life and career to return to the classroom.鈥�
Landry will continue to serve as dean until the end of the academic year, and a recruitment plan for the position is being developed and will be announced in the coming weeks, noted Interim Provost Tammy Leonard, Ph.D.
鈥淲e are grateful for Dean Landry鈥檚 service to the university. Over the past seven years, he has led the Gupta College of Business forward, broadening its profile both in Dallas/Fort Worth and internationally,鈥� said Leonard. 鈥淒uring his tenure as dean, he continuously pushed for innovation and improvement. Dean Landry successfully shepherded the college鈥檚 AACSB accreditation review process, created 鈥榮tackable degree鈥� options for our graduate business programs, and built a culture that encouraged continuous improvement among the college鈥檚 faculty and staff through annual planning days.鈥�
鈥淒ean Landry has been a true servant leader, particularly through some challenging times,鈥� said President Jonathan J. Sanford, Ph.D. 鈥淒uring his tenure as dean he constantly kept an eye on improving administrative efficiencies and led the Gupta College of Business through two major events, the restructuring plan last year and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, Dean Landry has always maintained a high level of excellence in serving the needs of our business community, our faculty and the many graduates of our business school who are leaders in their own professions.鈥�
Landry is the second longest-serving dean in the college鈥檚 history, behind only founding Dean Bob Lynch. Recognized by D CEO Magazine as being among the top 500 business leaders in the metroplex, he introduced a number of innovative initiatives to make earning a master's degree more flexible and encourage lifelong learning, including 爱豆传媒鈥檚 鈥淐atalyst鈥� program as a bridge for experienced working professionals to earn their MBA degrees.
Additional accomplishments include the completion of SB Hall, the university鈥檚 home for the Gupta College of Business; growing the college鈥檚 鈥淗all of Fame鈥� award event into an annual signature event; and creating additional signature programming events such as Leaders and Legends, Women in Business and Executives on Campus programs.
